Supriya Shrinate Questions BJP’s Focus Amid Mounting National Concerns
Congress MP Supriya Shrinate sharply criticised the BJP government, alleging neglect of key national issues including SIR voting irregularities, deaths of 35 BLOs, rising pollution, a weak rupee and new labour laws. She accused the ruling party of focusing on distractions instead of addressing urgent public concerns.
Shrinate claimed that instead of addressing these matters, the BJP’s priorities had shifted toward what she called “sensational distractions,” including targeted disinformation against former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, intrusive surveillance of citizens, and tracking locations of social media accounts. She also criticised the growing tendency, in her view, to amplify trivial controversies—she cited past debates over how a dog entered Parliament—rather than confronting the substantive problems affecting millions.
Raising a pointed question to the government, Shrinate asked how long the nation would continue to be drawn into disputes rooted in centuries-old narratives or distant future promises, while contemporary crises remain unaddressed. She urged the Centre to refocus its energy on urgent, real-world challenges that directly impact public welfare.
Her remarks underline a broader political tension ahead of key legislative and electoral moments, as opposition parties seek to frame governance priorities and accountability at the forefront of national discourse.
